Our minerals size

Example for a "Small Cabinet - Scab" mineral size.

There is no a universal rule widely accepted to describe the size of minerals in the collectors jargon, only conventions used by the most of collectors and dealers, with some variations each other.

In this site, we try to adhere as much as possible to this conventions, also trying to use our own set, to describe the size of minerals listed here.

This are the descriptive sizes names used in this site, hopping that all our samples showed fit into one of this definitions, and, if at a moment we need to modify this descriptions the text will be updated with the changes.

Collections.
As in traditional museums, this site show minerals and related objects collections, a collection is a set of items related between them, and grouped under a name. we always credit to the collection owners/owners and the museum has its own collection "MUMME Collection".

Galleries.
Galleries are intended to show a predefined set of items, not necessarily related but to put altogether into one museum section.

Welcome to this site, MUMME, stands in spanish for Mineralogy Museum of Mexico, intended to expose over the internet a part of the vast mineralogical heritage of México.

In México there is a lack of museums, fairs or shows even associations dedicated to promote our mineral richness, by this mean we want to contribute to make more people aware of this.
